We hope you’re having an epic March! Thank you all for your continuous support, and we’re excited to bring you the latest news from CODE this month. Here’s what we’ve been up to:

Highlight of the Month: Ben Tardrew
This month, we posted a feature on one of the Code founders, Ben Tardrew.
Ben is a softly spoken human with a novel of experience when it comes to water sports and traversing the ocean. He started off racing skiffs competitively to an Olympic level, Ben then crossed over to the hardcore sport of SUP downwind where he is one of the most competitive blokes out there.
Now shaping boards under his own name, he then was one of the first people in Australia designing foils. We are proud to have Ben dedicated to making the best possible foils out there.
Women of Code
We are incredibly proud to showcase the inspiring women in the foiling community, and this month, we’re shining a spotlight on two female riders, Krystal Cotteril and Angela Juengling.
In this short film, Krystal and Angela sit down with us to share their stories about why they fell in love with foiling, how they got started in the sport, and what keeps them coming back for more. These women have shown tremendous passion and dedication to foiling.
Foiling is often seen as a male-dominated sport, but here at Code Foils, we are committed to increasing female representation in the sport. We believe everyone, regardless of gender, should have the opportunity to ride!
Check out the full film – Created and Edited by Josh Ku – to hear Krystal and Angela’s stories and to see just how exciting foiling can be for everyone, regardless of background.

Code Tutorial – S or R series. Which one is Right for you?
If you’re looking for a deep dive into the S and R series, one of our Code Dealers Kite Puerto Rico, N1 Watersports has got you covered. Dylan does a great analysis into the S and the R series front wing, their aspects and when and where you should be using them.
There is a place in your life for both the S and the R front wings. But if you’re looking to refine your quiver into a few foils, this tutorial will help you decide.

Still Wondering about Tails? S or R?
The question is, are you looking for control or maximum glide? The AR series are lower aspect tails focusing on the control and stability of the tail. You would use the AR for more surf style conditions when turning and pitch control is more sought after.
The R tails are focused on speed and glide, they dont give as much lift however they have near to no drag making them a super efficient and fast tail.

Dave West – Foiling Tips
Team Rider, Dave West never fails to disappoint us with his foil knowledge and testing. He discusses the disadvantages of pumping out of your turns when wave riding. Here’s what he has to say –
Common mistake I see people make when foiling is they have to pump constantly out of every turn.
It doesn’t look flowy or stylish. And it’s inefficient.
If you need to pump out of the turn then you probably aren’t surfing the wave the way you should. You’re forcing it.
There’s always plenty of energy on offer and most often I see people simply not using it or not getting back up into the power zone of the wave – and because of that – they have to pump.
Unless I’m purposely traversing a section or about to pump onto a different wave – I rarely pump – i stead I use the power that turning creates in order to stay in the power zone.
Looks better and feels better.
- Stay in the power zone
- Don’t force a turn
- Smooth is fast
- Ride the right size foil

Froth of the Month
Our team is always testing and refining new setups to help you get the most out of your gear. This month, Code Ambassador Rick shares his thoughts on the 600R whilst wingfoiling.
The excitement and froth in this video is why we work hard on foil development!
Our Parting Tech Tip for you- Fuselage Lengths
At Code Foils we have a range of four fuselage sizes, to give each rider more versatility out of their foil kit.
The XS and small fuses are designed for tight turns and advanced maneuvers. Pair these with larger foils for max responsiveness, or use them with your current wingfoil setup for a loose, lively experience.
Alternatively, if you are chasing a locked in and controlled pitch/glide try out the Large or medium Fuse on your set up.
What is your favourite fuselage length?
